Combine hiking to the volcano with sailing in the Caldera, admire the view and feel the steam of the volcano. Walk up the hill to the Ancient Thira and be amazed by the views of the Black Beach, and see the Zoodohos Pigi church which is built on a rock.
This route offers panoramic views of the Caldera & Aegean Sea. The trail starts outside our property and follows the rim of the caldera to Oia, the northern part of the island, passing by the villages of Firostefani and Imerovigli on the way.
This is a hike that combines many of the most exciting activities of Santorini: the sailing of the Caldera, the Volcano, the Hot-Springs, the views. Starting from the old port of Fira, you can join a boat tour that will take you across the Caldera to the Volcano. A spectacular hike up over this mountain is moderately challenging but worth the effort for the breathtaking views. It takes at least 20 mins to get up to the edge of the volcano and feel the heat from the steam. The path is rough and so trainer shoes are recommended. The Cruise finishes at the Hot Springs, for a rejuvenating swim.
Your trip begins either from Kamari or Perissa from the uphill paved. In the middle of the uphill path, you will find a small path on your right leading to the church of Zoodochos Pigi. The church is built in the depths of a huge rock. A perfect spot to rest in the cooling shade and take pictures of Kamari that lies 200 m below. Follow the same path from the church towards the uphill paved road and after a 15-minute walk you will arrive at the top of the hill, a circular plateau that lies between Profitis Elias and Ancient Thera. The view is unbelievable, with Kamari behind you and Perissa, Black Sand Beach in front of you.
